Team building has only been studied in depth for the
past 35 years. During that time there have been many attempts to create team
building programs that would make a team more effective and productive.
Among those many attempts there have only been a few to create a methodology
and tool set simple enough and powerful enough that the average manager (i.e,
one that did not have an advanced degree in organizational development).
We have tried to create a resource not only for human resource professionals or
organization development professionals, but also for business leaders. The
4-C's, and the clearly outlined tools of the book, give a strong foundation for
business professionals to begin to strengthen their teams. The assessments and
other tools are meant to augment and facilitate a team leader's ability to fix
broken teams and strengthen functioning teams.
